Is it that bad in the US?
Here in europe (English districts) there's people everywhere except some really out-of-the-way outposts like Maguuma Stade. Even if you're playing at four o'clock in the morning.
Or is this suggestion intended to bring people to the international district? That one is truly deserted except for the few areas where the farming army works.
I'm in principle in favor of joining all the districts together -I feel GW should be ONE world- but the only merging that's really needed, IMO, is to merge the italian and spanish districts with the english district: the italian and spanish districts really are empty.

For the most part you should be able to make do with target calls and minimap drawings. But this suggestion is mainly to help the english speaking people of europe and american servers (who may or may not be in the english districts).
I've managed about 1 1/2 hours in FoW without anybody using chat or TS with a PUG, and we didn't do too badly.

I think the suggestion is to make it that unless the numbers support multiple districts, everybody will have to go international.

I assumed that there are technical reasons for keeping them seperate, but merging all servers would be best for the players.

2 best groups I ever got were in ID
1: entire fire island missions full group of 8
2: Unwaking waters.....as you know emprty, we scrounged 8 together
But yeah, in main towns such as LA and droks I normally hang in ID1 anyway, people just seem more professional (and less talkative, which is GOOD)

Merge ALL european districts, the german and the french districts too. The germans mostly play in english anyways and the french uhm... just do their thing "lalala, we don'T know english, oops i just didn't say that in english!" but european districts, like they were when the game was released, would do lots for the european realms. Language barrier there is not a real problem, a large (very large) scale of schools in europe educates atleast two languages, mother tongue and english.

I play on euro servers too... the italian, spansih and french districts are almost always deserted.
and even on the english and german ones its hard to find people in places like "the wilds", dragons lair, Ice Caves of Sorrow, abbadons mouth and so on...
its going to get even harder after nightfall is released because there will be 1/3 more towns and outposts. so we need to bring the global playerbase together before we get to scattered.

Vizunah Foreign Quarter is always henches or foreign people on US servers. It's extremely frustrating with the latter because of the language barrier. Preset phrases would help out a ton.
If that was implemented along with it, then yeah I'd have no problem grouping with anyone that wasn't an idiot.

Read what i have typed before in this thread
Doing Abaddon's Mouth WITH bonus with hardly any communication, i managed to do it... just respect your fellow players and you'll automatically start udnerstanding eachother... if not, then it's just a crappy bunch of teammates, and that is NOT the fault of their language.

Would you rather play with a group of 7 other experienced players with a language barrier, or would you rather play with the henchmen AI. I think the choice is obvious...

Yeah, I'll drink to that. I too feel the euro-zone should be one district.
However, the reason there's other districts besides the English one is because a lot of english-speakers threw tantrums when germans and french were speaking in their own language. The non-english districts exist due to _english_ demand.
Sad, isn't it?
Also the french and germans seem to have enough players, so I'm not sure they'd be interested in merging. The italians and spanish, though...

Even if we merged together all euro districts, there would still be very very few people in does popular mission outposts and towns. its sad, really.

Great idea Lawnmower guy! Forgive me I'm too tired to read the whole thread but I agree completely with the OP. I've thought of this idea myself many times when travelling to the less populated places in the game, and as expansions are released populations will continue to be thinned.

Also the time difference is annoying, in Australia whenever I go on to play its either at the time where everyone is asleep, or everyone is at work.....

Merging the American and European sectors into one international district will hardly make a huge difference. Many (most?) europeans speak English, either as their native or second tongue, so it won't mean you're being stuck with a ton of Polish-speaking or Chinese-speaking people.
Of course, those will be there too; but the whole point is to expand your options, and I know I wouldn't mind partying up with a few Brits.
And, Lord knows I need to practice my Spanish. ><
